HOUSED
Home Ownership Using Sustainable Empty Dwellings (HOUSED) scheme
What is Housed?
Housed stands for Home Ownership Using Sustainable Empty Dwellings. It is a scheme set up under the Empty Property Strategy by which we have a ‘pot of money’ to purchase a small amount of properties which will then be offered for sale (certain conditions apply). We can also offer a 10% grant towards the purchase price, again conditions apply.
We have already purchased and refurbished three properties for the scheme which are in the process of being sold. If you wish to apply for one of the second phase properties, please download the attached application pack
The properties will be renovated to an extremely high standard incorporating brand new kitchens and bathroom suites. Buyers will have the opportunity to pre-select the kitchens. They will all be fully double glazed and have a complete central heating system.
As part of the scheme the properties will meet Ecohomes and Secured by Design standards.
In order to make the Home buying process easier for you, we are now working in partnership with the Homemovers Team from Wirral Council.
The Homemovers Team has three Home Ownership Advisory Officers who will provide as much or as little support and guidance you may require, to help you become a home owner (subject to eligibility).
They will help you by:
- Referring you to an Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) who can provide you with mortgage advice.
- Advising you about incentive payments.
- Directing you to support services, if required.
How do I find out more or apply for one of these properties?
Anybody interested in purchasing one of these properties will need to download or request the attached information pack. The pack includes an application form, a HOUSED leaflet and a Grant & Resale Policy leaflet.
What will happen next?
Once you have completed and returned your application form to us if there is more than one application for a particular property we will then shortlist applicants. If you have been successful for short-listing, you will then be contacted, to arrange an interview.
