Welcome To Wirral
LA21 Strategy
Because of global pressures on the use of finite resources, we must consider carefully how we can reduce consumption in order to provide a future for our children.
We want to tell you what we are already doing, and based on what you tell us, we will be able to draw up a strategy for Wirral which will really help us get to grips with the challenges we face as we enter a new millennium.
It's not just about cutting down on the rubbish we throw out, using our cars less - though these things matter - it relies on us all choosing a better way to live.
Based on the information you give us, we will be able to produce Wirral's Local Agenda 21 Strategy, which will inform all our Council policies in the future - from economic regeneration to planning matters.
We need you to tell us:
- what you consider to be the most serious problems facing the environment today, or your quality of life.
- what you believe will help resolve these problems.
- how far you are willing to go for the greater good of Wirral, and the global environment, as a whole.
- how the Council and local residents and communities can work together to make Wirral a more pleasant place to live.
So that we can set priorities for the future, we need your views. Please write, e-mail, phone, attend one of the public meetings being held around Wirral (watch local press for details) or contact your local councillor.
However you choose to respond, we want you to help us so that we can move to the next stage and plan ways to make Wirral a better place.
If you want to play a part - and we sincerely hope you do - please spare a few minutes to read through these pages and let us have your opinions.
If you know of someone who is blind or partially sighted, or who does not understand English, please let us know and we will arrange to let them have this information in a different format. If you need extra copies of this report for friends and neighbours, just let us know and we will be delighted to supply them.
