Housing Allocations Development Plan Document
The preparation of the Housing Allocations DPD will not begin until the Council's Preferred Options for the Core Strategy have been published. The expected start date for the Housing Allocations DPD is March 2008.
The Housing Allocations DPD must be submitted to the Secretary of State for independent public examination.

A Housing Market and Needs Assessment for Wirral was begun in 2006 and a study of housing land availability will be commissioned in 2007. The final results are not expected to be available until early 2008.
The target date for the adoption of the Housing Allocations DPD is March 2011.
Interim Housing Policy
The Council adopted an Interim Housing Policy on 20 October 2005, and this policy came into effect on 30 October 2005. The policy aims to focus new housing development into the designated Housing Market Renewal Initiative Area and other identified regeneration priority areas.
