Inspection
The Council carries out inspections of all its coastal structures and structures in private ownership on a regular basis. The Council’s inspection regime complies with Defra’s High Level Targets for Flood and Coastal Defence. The Council has agreed to undertake inspections in accordance with these targets through their own Policy Statement for Flood and Coastal Defence.
Inspections are also carried out before and after storm tides to ensure major damage to seawalls is fixed as soon as possible.
Results of inspections are used to create a Programme of Works for Coastal Maintenance.
