Welcome To Wirral
Biodiversity on Wirral
Welcome to the home page of Wirral's Biodiversity Partnership Website.
Variety of life, or biodiversity, is one of Wirral's greatest assets and something that everyone who lives, works and visits the peninsula should know about.
Our spectacular and unique area includes estuaries, clay cliffs, sand dunes, ancient woods, ponds, heathland, marsh and meadows.
These support a huge variety of plants and animals including seals, natterjack toads, great crested newts, rare birds and dozens of species of unusual plants and invertebrates.
It is for these reasons that Wirral's Biodiversity Action Plan is important as it gives local people a framework for their conservation activities.
The plan will focus resources on new, extended or enhanced projects that conserve biodiversity using partnerships.
