14 - 19 Strategy
The 14-19 reform programme is ambitious. Over the coming years it will radically alter the schools sector and further education system, reforming existing qualifications and introducing new diploma and functional skills qualifications to be delivered through local partnerships. At the heart of the reforms is an entitlement for all young people to access the education that is best suited to them, in a setting appropriate to what they are learning and where standards are assured.
No institution acting alone will be able to offer the full entitlement. Schools, colleges and training providers need to work together with local authorities and the Learning and Skills Council on how to offer more between them than any one institution could provide on its own. Successful implementation of the 14-19 programme will require new ways of working by all.
