Wirral has 27 secondary schools, 13 special schools and 101 primary schools catering for a population of approximately 50,000 pupils.
Education standards in Wirral are above average. The 2001 Ofsted report found that “at all key stages and in all core subjects, Wirral’s pupils attain above and are progressing faster than similar areas and national averages".
“School inspection reports indicate that Wirral has more good and very good schools than other authorities, this is a very positive picture.”
