Asset Management Plan
The Asset Management Plan forms a significant element in the national and local drive to raise educational standards, provide opportunities for all and support Life Long Learning and in doing so link to the council’s corporate objectives and form part of the corporate AMP to deliver those objectives.
The aims of the Wirral AMP are :
- Provide safe, secure learning environments for every user of school premises
- Allow the LEA to meet its duty to provide sufficient school places for children of statutory school age and ensure a match between demand and provision.
- Raise standards of educational attainment.
- Ensure that places as well as being sufficient are suitable.
- Support national initiatives to increase diversity and specialism in secondary
- Maximise Value for Money.
- Ensure efficient and effective management of existing capital assets.
- Provide sustainable and energy-efficient buildings that are consistent with Local Agenda 21 strategies.
- Increase the community use of school facilities and extend provision, where possible, beyond statutory requirements in respect of early years provision and youth facilities.
- Address, in a planned way, the maintenance and repair of school premises to provide positive learning environments
- .Provide innovative design solutions which reflect the principles of DfES Schools for the Future - Designs for Learning Communities and which reflect the needs of ICT based education and enhanced facilities for Science and Technology.
- Provide suitable provision for pupils with special educational needs in a range of settings in all types of school, including special schools.
These aims bring together national DfES and local priorities and provide the criteria against which LEA and school based schemes can be measured and prioritised.
