Social, Communication and Interaction Difficulties Team (ASD)
The Social and Communication Specialist Team is available to all schools.
The main focus of the team is to work with school staff to train and advise on appropriate targets and strategies for pupils with ASD/Asperger Syndrome/Social and Communication Difficulties.
Priority will be given to pupils –
- with a Statement of Special Educational Need
- at School Action Plus, with at least five units of support.
The team will also be able to support pupils at School Action Plus with Social and Communication Difficulties (no specific diagnosis) as time is released from the priority populations.
Support and advice is delivered through visits, telephone or written response and ASCA (Autism and Social Communication Advice). General advice to staff and parents/carers of children with Autism or Social and Communication Difficulties can be accessed by booking a session at the Solar Campus, 235 Leasowe Road, Wallasey on 0151 637 6165.
Other roles include the provision of central and school-based INSET and transition planning at KS1-KS2 and KS2-KS3.
