Welcome To Wirral

Medical Physical Needs Team

Who are we?

The Service for Pupils with Medical & Physical needs is made up of three team members: two specialist teachers and one ICT SEN Officer.

We are employed by Wirral Education Department to provide help and advice for children with medical and/or physical needs, their families and schools.

Where are we?

We work as part of SESS, which has its offices at Solar Campus in Wallasey but we spend a lot of time visiting schools all over the Wirral.

How will we work with you, your family and your school?

  1. We will talk to you, your parents and all the professionals involved with you e.g. doctors, occupational therapists etc. to write an Individual Health Care Plan (IHCP). An IHCP will help to make school a safe and happy place for you.
  2. We will provide any special equipment that you need e.g. a special chair or a piece of ICT equipment.
  3. We will look at your school building to make sure you are able to use it easily.
  4. We will give your school help and advice when they are planning school trips and residential visits.
  5. We will help your teachers to include you in the whole life of the school e.g. clubs, playtimes, lessons.
