Educational Psychology Service
The Educational Psychologists provide a range of services around children and young people (0-19) and are concerned with all types of special educational need within a broader remit of promoting the educational, social, emotional and behavioural well-being of all pupils through the application of psychology and researched outcomes.
Services include:
- delivery of allocated sessions from a named EP through consultation at individual, group or whole school level.
- provision of psychological advice to the Authority on children who are undergoing a statutory assessment or reassessment of their special educational needs.
- training for schools and other agencies in a wide range of areas, e.g. behaviour, child protection.
- provision of a bereavement service and input to the Authority response to critical incidents.
- the monitoring of the progress of children in out of borough placements.
- contributing to policy development, working groups and strategic planning.
- input to Fostering and Adoption Panels and the needs of Looked After Children.
- to advise and work with Connexions staff regarding specialist college placements.
The EP Service is currently being realigned to provide time to the 11 areas as part of multi-disciplinary Teams. Full details to be posted as soon as possible.
Non-maintained Early Education Settings
Some EP time is specifically directed to work in these settings around children causing concern.
There are established links and co-working between EPs and a number of other agencies/teams such as:
- Child and Family Service
- Health professionals such as speech and language therapists.
