What is the Wirral Civic Award Scheme for Young People?
The Wirral Civic Award Scheme is open to all young people. The majority of those who take part are aged between 8 and 12, but our youngest awardees are 4, and the scheme can be adapted to include older teenagers if required.

Whilst taking part in the scheme, young people demonstrate their awareness and appreciation of the area in which they live their ability to make progress in a chosen physical activity self reliance and independence appropriate to their age and ability a positive use of their leisure time service to others.
The Scheme has four main levels, named after streams on the Wirral (Arrowe, Birket, Clatter and Dibbin). There is also a Preliminary level for younger participants plus those who would like to work in a more individual way.
Participants who do not live in Wirral may wish to take part as a Preliminary candidate.
Awardees may take part within a group, either at school, youth club or similar organization, or as individuals receiving help on line or by telephone from a member of staff. Sometimes parents work with a small group of young people and guidance can be given as to how to operate the scheme.
