Lifelong and Family Learning
Wirral Council is both a direct provider and a facilitator of Adult and Community Learning and Family Learning for the people of Wirral.
The Lifelong Learning Service is a direct deliverer of Learning and Skills Council funded adult learning. Schools and Wirral Multi-Cultural Organisation have delivered subcontracted learning in 2004/5. Family Learning is delivered in a partnership between schools and Local Authority with support through a partnership with Wirral Metropolitan College.In addition to the LSC funded provision, adult learning is facilitated through Libraries, Leisure facilities, Specialist Colleges, City Learning Centres, Education Action Zones and other colleagues, funded from a variety of sources.
The Lifelong Learning Service, funded through the Learning and Skills Council’s ACL budget, seeks to offer first rung learning opportunities of high quality, and to assist learners to progress on to further training opportunities, and into employment.
