Wirral Council is committed to providing educational and cultural opportunities for all residents. We deliver our education and learning programmes primarily through the Children and Young People’s Department and have forged close links with other organisations to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive education programme for all our residents.

Learn new skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere through Wirral’s Lifelong and Family Learning Service - providing high quality short courses in local centres for those with no or low qualifications.
Our Family Learning programme also aims to help families enjoy and achieve by offering courses in partnership with schools and children’s centres.
Wirral offers a range of after-school and holiday activities for children and young people through Playschemes, the Extended Schools Programme and our Outdoor Educational Centre Oaklands.
There are three City Learning Centres in Wirral -all dedicated to developing new and supporting existing ways of using ICT to enhance teaching and learning. Wirral also boasts a network of Extended Schools, Family and Adult Learning Centres, Children’s Centres for the under 5s and regular learning activities at our network of libraries.
Information for parents of school aged children – we work closely with partners to provide a full range of services.
Wirral Children’s Information Service maintains a database of childcare provision across Wirral, covering childminding, pre-school playgroups, day nurseries, after school clubs and holiday schemes. It also holds information on informal childcare such as parent/ carer and toddler groups.
