Under the Nationality Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 all applicants, applying for naturalisation as a British Citizen must attend a citizenship ceremony.

How do I arrange a Citizenship Ceremony?
When you receive your letter of approval from the Home Office you should telephone the Wirral Register Office on 0151 666 4096 to arrange your ceremony date. Your ceremony MUST take place within 3 months of Home Office approval.
We will send you a letter giving you full details of the ceremony and will ask you to complete a questionnaire detailing your requirements.
How long does the ceremony take?
The ceremony last approximately 30 minutes. We ask you to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony so that we can check all your documentation. After the ceremony refreshments are available.
What do I need to bring with me?
You need to bring your Home Office letter and also some kind of photo ID, preferably your passport.
Yes, guests are welcome. You may bring up to 5 guests. These should be included on your returned questionnaire.
You will be welcomed by members of staff and your documentation checked prior to the ceremony. You will then be accompanied to the ceremony room. The ceremony is conducted by the Superintendent Registrar, and applicants will be asked to swear or affirm allegiance to the Sovereign and make an oath of loyalty. You will then be presented with your nationality certificate and an information pack.
Following the ceremony light refreshments will be available for you and your guests.
Can I have a Private Ceremony?
Individual or family ceremonies are available but an extra fee is charged for this service.
