Welcome To Wirral

Policies and plans

Wirral Council and partners have successfully negotiated a Local Area Agreement (LAA) with the Department for Communities and Local Government.

LAA’s represent a radical new approach to the way local authorities and their partners can use Government funding to support the implementation of national, regional and local priorities in local areas. They are three year agreements struck between Government – through GONW, the Local Authority and its partners in an area to improve public services. The priorities agreed between Wirral partners and Government are themed into four key areas;

  • Children and Young People
  • Healthier Communities and Older People
  • Safer and Stronger Communities
  • Economic Development and Enterprise

Through the Wirral Local Area Agreement we will be able to continue the development of the Local Strategic Partnership and, through focusing on a clear, agreed set of priorities for the next three years, make further inroads into delivering our Sustainable Community Plan and related strategies.
