Welcome To Wirral

Woodchurch Neighbourhood Management Programme

Woodchurch has been chosen as an area to benefit from Neighbourhood Management. The programme aims to improve the quality of life of local residents through the improvement of local services.

The programme will run initially from April 2006 to March 2008, with the possibility of a further 2-year extension. Service improvement will happen through building effective partnerships between residents and agencies working in the local area, and maximising the engagement of the community in local decision-making and the evaluation of services.

The programme is managed through an Interim Board, chaired by Cllr John George, the membership includes Councillors for Upton and Greasby, Frankby, Irby, local community representatives and service providers. The Interim Board is linked to the Area Forum for Greasby, Frankby, Irby, Upton and Woodchurch.

Findings from a baseline research report and local community research informed an initial delivery plan which highlights five themes as the focus for service improvement. These are liveability (environmental improvements), children and young people's health, educational attainment, alcohol misuse and domestic violence. Anti social behaviour is also identified as a cross cutting theme. Theme groups, involving a range of agencies and local residents, have been established to identify detailed actions to take forward. Priority actions have been confirmed through wider consultation with stakeholders and funding is now available through the Neighbourhood Element of Wirral's Local Area Agreement to implement them.
