Welcome To Wirral
Beacon Council
The Beacon Council Scheme was set up to disseminate best practice in service delivery across local government. Each year, the government selects themes for the Beacon Scheme. Themes are chosen because of their importance in the day-to-day lives of the public and are key to improving quality of live in all our communities.
To gain Beacon status, councils must be able to demonstrate a clear vision, excellent services and a willingness to innovate.
Wirral has already received Beacon Status for:
- Community Legal Services
- Transforming Secondary Education
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
- Positive Youth Engagement
The roots of developing better communities lies in young people, their understanding of their common stake in society and their experience of working together to produce positive changes.
This Beacon theme sees young people at the heart of what local authorities do, and how they do it, and recognises the councils that harness the talents and energy of young people. Beacon authorities have demonstrated that they involve young people in both developing services for their age group and others.
