A. Equality Impact Assessments (EIA)

Equality Impact Assessments are a self-assessment tool to help Council departments and services look at the likely positive and negative impact of their work on staff, members, service users / customers, partnerships, individuals and communities with regards to equality of opportunity and promoting diversity in employment and service delivery, and to take appropriate action.

Why do we need to do this?

Legislation has brought in the requirement to not only tackle discrimination but to actively promote diversity and equality of opportunity. This is a significant change to the Council’s responsibilities and one that will require the organisation to act in different ways.

In order for the Council to measure progress towards promoting diversity and equality of opportunity, Equality Impact Assessments will be completed for all Council functions, services, projects, strategies and policies.
