About Wirral Anti Social Behaviour Team
Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team is a dedicated multi-disciplinary service that focuses its work upon the themes of prevention, enforcement and resettlement. The Anti-Social Behaviour Team is part of the Joint Community Safety Team, the delivery arm of Wirral's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, which is a partnership of key agencies that determine the best way to tackle crime and disorder in Wirral.
The Anti-Social Behaviour Team was created in January 1998 initially to take enforcement action against the perpetrators of serious or persistent nuisance related to Council properties and was formerly known as the Neighbour Nuisance Team.
In July 2003, the Team expanded into the private sector and began to deal with anti-social behaviour related to owner-occupied and privately rented properties.
In February 2005, the Council transferred its housing stock to two newly created not-for-profit organisations, Wirral Partnership Homes and Beechwood & Ballantyne Community Housing Association. Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team works in close partnership with these registered social landlords and serious cases occurring in properties managed by both landlords will be referred to Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team for further enforcement action, where appropriate.
In early 2006 the Team's remit expanded to focus not only upon enforcement, but also preventative and resettlement work. The Team currently comprises officers from the Council's Regeneration Department, Education Social Welfare Service and Youth Services and seconded officers from Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and Family Support Unit and is supported by a dedicated Community Safety Solicitor.
In August 2006, Wirral's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership will be publishing an Anti-Social Behaviour Strategy detailing the work we are committed to undertake over the next two years to make Wirral a safer place to live, work and visit.
