Welcome To Wirral

Community safety

Community safety schemes can involve many things, from parenting programmes, educational initiatives and mentoring programmes to changing the physical environment through urban design schemes, and improving security through CCTV, locks, bolts and alley gating.

The first three year strategy to reduce crime and disorder in Wirral was published in April 1999. The latest strategy document is available as a downloadable PDF file.

The strategy supports the vision

"To work together to make Wirral a safer place in which to live, work and visit."

The objectives are to:

  • Reduce crime and disorder
  • Improve public perception
  • Increase public involvement
  • Integrate agency working
  • Increase community safety
