Welcome To Wirral

Crime Prevention

The Police have always been aware that 'catching crooks' is only one aspect of crime reduction. However, many of the factors within society influencing the prevalence of Crime and Disorder are outside their control.

Local Councils, Primary Care Trusts and Fire Services have joined the Police as lead agencies taking a holistic view to solving deep-rooted problems that have an effect on crime and disorder.

Wirral Joint Community Safety Team is the 'Action Arm' of the Wirral Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. The work of the Partnership takes in both reducing actual levels of crime and disorder, as well as reducing undue fear of crime felt by the people of Wirral.

Wirral Joint Community Safety Team comprises members of these and other agencies working together in the same office to the same agenda. An audit of all crime and disorder statistics for the previous three years is compiled on a three-yearly basis. The priorities for Wirral are to combat:-

  • theft
  • anti-social behaviour (including criminal damage)
  • drugs
  • violent crime (domestic violence, hate crime, alcohol related crime)
