Wirral Efficiency Plan
The Government is currently undertaking a comprehensive spending review covering the period from 2008 – 2011 which should be announced in July 2007. All the indications to date are that the available resources for local government will be very limited. The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in his pre budget statement that the level of efficiency savings required from local government will be increased from 2.5%, of which 50% is cashable, to 3%, all of which will be cashable.
Cashable and Non-Cashable Gains
- Cashable gains represent the potential to release resources for reallocation elsewhere;
- Non-cashable gains are achieved through improved quality or additional outputs for the same level of resources.
