Welcome To Wirral

Any person who wishes to invite or accept bookings for private hire journeys from an address within Wirral is required by law to hold a licence issued by us.

You will be required to keep record of every journey and are responsible for ensuring that the journeys booked are completed.

We can only issue a Private Hire Operators licence if the premises that you wish to operate from is within the area of Wirral.

How to apply for a new licence

Once you have all the necessary documentation you can make an appointment with the Licensing Section. You can do this by calling the Licensing Section on 0151 691 8043 or by visiting any Council One Stop Shop.

Please provide the following:

• Planning permission, or a letter from the planning department stating that they do not need planning permission
• Driver’s list
• Sample of booking records
• Sample of door signs
• Your Licence fee - this will vary depending on the number of licensed vehicles that you wish to use at any one time.
• Your completed application form or if you wish we can assist you with you application.
