Amusement with Prizes
When an application is made the premises are inspected by the Merseyside Fire Brigade and a Councils Building Control Officer to determine suitably of the premises for the licence.
How do I apply for an Amusement with Prizes permit?
You need to complete an application form and return it to the Licensing Office.
Do I need to advertise my application?
Yes. If an application for the grant of an Amusement with prizes permit is received then a public notice in the attached form must be advertised in an edition of the Wirral Group of Newspapers or Wirral Globe and a copy of the newspaper carrying the advertisement must be sent to me. It will also have to be exhibited outside the premises for 14 days beginning with the date of the application and confirmation that the notice has been exhibited would have to be notified to me at the expiration of the period involved.
What is the fee payable?
The fee payable is £32.00 for a section34(1) permit and£250.00 for a section 34(5e) Permit. Please read the attached guidance notes to determine which Permit to apply for. Cheques should be made payable to 'Wirral Borough Council'.
When will the application be granted?
All applications must be put before the Council's Licensing Panel. The average time it takes from making an application to it being granted is about six to eight weeks.
Do I need to make my application in person?
Yes. The legislation requires the application form to be signed. However, the Licensing service is prepared to accept an application form by email or fax, but you must post in the original application form to the Licensing service.
