Welcome To Wirral

Call Centre

Our call centre advisers are trained to deal with a wide range of enquiries covering benefits, council tax, bin collections and other general information.

We aim to resolve enquiries with one call wherever possible and use a recording system to monitor enquiries, which helps us to continuously improve the service we provide.

  • Council Tax liability

  • Payment arrears
  • Payments (including direct debits)
  • Housing or Council Tax Benefit claims
  • Reporting of Change in Circumstances
  • Payment options for Housing Benefit
  • Claim forms and information leaflets
  • General advice on Council Tax and Housing/Council Tax Benefit claims

Streetscene offers advice on:

  • Refuse collection
  • Recycling
  • Street cleansing
  • Street lighting
  • Road and pavement maintenance/repairs
  • Road signs
  • Traffic management
  • Resident parking schemes
  • Bulk waste removals (known as ERIC)
  • Highway drainage
  • Highway enforcement
  • Payments for penalty charge notices and replacement bins

Information and Advice

The Information and Advice team books appointments and offers general information on council services including:

  • Pest control
  • Registrars (Births and Deaths)
  • Council recruitment
  • It's Your Call (reporting incidents of anti social behaviour)
  • Building and Development Control
  • Home to school transport
  • Contacting local MPs and Councillors
  • Handy person and POP IN schemes

 

Opening hours:
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

(An answerphone facility operates outside office hours for reports of anti-social behaviour.)

Automated Telephone Payments
0151 606 2345

Payments can be made in respect of many council services using this 24 hours facility.

Department of Adult Social Services and Children & Young Peoples Division (CADT)

The Central Advice and Duty Team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offers advice or referral for anyone who:

  • Has a physical or learning disability
  • Is experiencing mental health distress
  • Is caring for a child with disabilities or difficulties
  • Is elderly and losing their independence
  • Is experiencing difficulties due to sight or hearing loss
  • Looks after someone
  • Has concerns about a child or adult (they can report anonymously)

(An emergency duty team provides out of hours cover from 5pm to 9am on Monday to Fridays and covers weekends and bank holidays. For emergencies outside of normal office hours telephone 0151-677-6557.)
