Welcome To Wirral

One Stop Shops

We have a network of community One Stop Shops where you can speak to a Customer Services Adviser in person about:

  • Council services
  • Advice surgeries
  • Accessing partner services (such as NHS, police, Age Concern)
  • Where to get information

All One Stop Shop advisers have been specially trained in the services available and where possible, will try to resolve your query in one visit. This means that all of your council business can be dealt with in one place.

Our One Stop Shops cover a wide range of services. The most popular include

  • housing benefit,
  • council tax,
  • education awards,
  • disabled parking permits and
  • environmental services such as pest control.

Every One Stop Shops accepts debit and credit card payments, but cash payments can only be processed at the Birkenhead branch. Information about Payments

All of the shops are accessible and feature:

  • Wheelchair / pram access
  • Lowered counters
  • Hearing loop facilities
  • Interpreting services (available upon request)
  • Fully accessible toilets / baby changing facilities

You can get help at any One Stop Shop, no matter where you live in Wirral. There is no need to book an appointment.

Information Points

The Information Point network is based in seven libraries and complements the existing One Stop Shop network, making it easier for you to access council services.

The information points provide first stage advice and information on council services, as well as signposting to other council offices including the one stop shops, where you can access a more comprehensive level of service.

Here are just some of the advice and information areas they deal with:

  • Issuing forms, leaflets and other literature e.g. Housing Benefit forms and leaflets
  • Taking payments via credit / debit cards for things like Council Tax
  • Providing details of traders registered on the Council’s Fair Trader scheme if you are looking to get work done on your home
  • Information on energy efficiency schemes
  • Advising you on refuse and recycling collections

You’ll find Information Points at the following libraries:

  • Beechwood,
  • Bromborough,
  • Greasby,
  • Irby,
  • Prenton,
  • Ridgeway,
  • St James
