What is Council Tax?

Council Tax is set by Councils (such as Wirral) to help pay for any local service they provide.

There is one bill per home whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, caravan or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented. See Council Tax Booklet in the downloads section.

 

Council Tax/Benefits E Citizen

You can now manage your Council Tax online using our E Citizen facility.

This faciility will enable you to view your Council Tax account which will show payments made, discounts and exemptions granted correspondence sent and any Council Tax benefit awardOnce registered, you will be able to receive future bills electronically , this means you will no longer recieve paper bills . So sign up for paperless billing - see E Citizen Homepage for further details.

E Citizen also allows you to search for banding information.

 

Direct Debit

Another efficient way for you to pay for your Council Tax is to sign up to pay by Direct Debit. Payment can be made direct from your bank on either 5th, 12th, 20th or 28th of the month.
