Finding out what rent level will be used to calculate Housing Benefit
If you are thinking of renting a property from a private landlord and would like to know what level of rent will be used to calculate your Housing Benefit claim then you can apply for a Pre-Tenancy Determination prior to taking up the tenancy.
The Rent Officer will determine the rent level to be used in the calculation of your claim and will notify the Council and you of the figure. This could help you to decide whether or not the property is suitable for you.
See Pre-Tenancy Determination form in the related links section.
