Wirral Farmers' Market

08 Nov 2008
9am - 1pm

Held on the second Saturday of each month and possibly the largest market of it's kind in the North West.

There is the usual large variety of food on offer at the market including award-winning cheeses, quail’s eggs, sausages, Welsh Black Beef, lamb, free range chickens, smoked food, fresh fish, free range eggs, local honey, pies, plants, cakes and soups along with plenty of seasonal vegetables.

You name it, Wirral Farmers Market has it, but make sure you come early to get the best of what is on offer.

Wirral Farmers Market is run by a group of volunteers, who live and work in the area and organise the market in their spare time.

The Wirral Farmers Market was set up to regenerate the area and its surroundings, with support from New Ferry Regeneration Group, North West Fine Foods, Lairdside Community Trust and Health Links.

The Market has also recently launched a fantastic new website which features details of all the producers at the market (See External Links)

Refreshment bar and free car parking.

NATIONAL AWARD

The hugely popular Wirral Farmers’ Market was named ‘best in the country’ at BBC Radio's Food and Farming Awards on Friday 28th November 2007 and was one of only three in the country to reach the finals.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the introduction of farmers’ markets in the UK and the category for Best Farmers’ Market is a new addition to the Awards.

Wirral Farmers’ Market is run completely by volunteers for the benefit of the community and to help the regeneration of the area. Since 2003, it has put £16,000 back into the community around New Ferry through grants and financial support, just one of the reasons for the award.
